Raja Hasan and Sumedha at Triveni Mahotsav "Umang 2009"

33kztht ALLAHABAD: The second day of Triveni Mahotsav, `Umang-2009′, at the Boat Club on the bank of river Yamuna saw stars like Dona Ganguly, Raja Hassan and Sumedha enthralling audiences with their performances.

After the welcome of the chief guest of the evening, Justice Amitav Lala, the programme began with the performance by Dona Ganguly and her dance troupe. An accomplished Odissi dancer, Dona is the wife of former swashbuckling Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly.

Dona started her stage show with Manglacharan and Vishnu stuti. She then presented Jatayu Moksha from Ramayana. Dona’s expressions and dancing forms enthralled everyone. A performance on Durga Ma Mahishasur Mardini followed. The formations and the act had the entire gathering applauding and appreciating them.

This was followed by Sumedha arriving on the stage. Sumedha was among the runners up of a TV song show. She regaled the audiences by singing popular tracks like maiya-maiya, beedi jalaile, namak ishq ka and so on. Everyone clapped and swayed to her melodious voice.

Then Raja Hassan arrived on the stage amid thunderous applause. He started his performance with `piya haji ali’ in sufi style. He presented a variety of songs with a mix of fast as also slow tracks. His songs included ramta jogi, dard-e-disco, teri aor, padharo hamare desh and numerous others. He had the entire audience tapping with him.

His show had once more demands from all corners of the pandal. When Sumedha joined him on the stage for a duet performance it was the icing on the cake. The crowd went wild shrieking and shouting. Raja Hassan ended his show with the song `Ma tujhe salaam’.
