RajaHasan.Com Talks about “Making a Difference”
Before I start to talk about anything today, I want to share a beautiful inspirational short story that I recently read of James Huggins. I tell you, James Huggins is someone who I turn to get motivated or when I need that extra little inspiration to push myself or to complete any task, I visit his website. His inspirational and motivational stories are awesome. Here is one; I know you will like it.
A well known author and poet was working and vacationing on the southern coast of Spain. One morning, very early, he was walking along the beach.
The sun was just rising, the rain had ended, the rainbows were magnificent, the sea calm. While enjoying the beauty about him, he glanced down the beach and saw a lone figure dancing about.
Fascinated by this other person celebrating the day that was to dawn, he moved closer. As he came nearer, he realized that the young man was not dancing but in one graceful movement was picking objects up from off the beach and tossing them into the sea. As he approached the young man, he saw that the objects were starfish.
“Why in the world are you throwing starfish into the water?” he asked.
“If the starfish are still on the beach when the tide goes out and the sun rises higher in the sky, they will die,” replied the young man as he continued tossing them out to sea.
“That’s ridiculous! There are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish. You can’t really believe that what you are doing could possibly make a difference.”
The young man picked up another starfish, paused thoughtfully and remarked as he tossed it out into the waves, “It makes a difference to this one.”
The intention to bring up this story today is not just to talk about making a difference in the society or in someone’s life but also making a difference in our own life. There are many things in life that happens and we may think it’s beyond us to do anything to make it better or we “one” person cannot do much and get disheartened. But as the famous quote that goes “Khatre khatre se dariya bharti hai” so the same way, every success starts with the single step.
How ever big the task maybe but it all starts small. It’s all in our belief and in our determination. It’s in “not quitting” attitude and working hard to make it better.
Let me ask you something - how many jokes have you heard that were on Adnan Sami? I have heard many and also few songs that say “Adnan se lift karadu”. And I am sure you too must have come across plenty to dozen jokes about Adnan. I have seen people laughing every time they saw Adnan on the TV. It’s so easy for anyone to laugh on the expense of others. But guess what – who has the last laugh today? You will know soon. The reason why I am bringing Adnan Sami’s topic today is because I admire this guy. I have even more respect for him today then before. I look up to him as a great inspiration. But for those who don’t know who Adnan Sami is, let me tell you briefly about him.
(The one in center is Adnan Sami)
Adnan Sami is an awesome singer, composer and fastest keyboard player of the world. He has many successful blockbuster albums to his credit. He has made a name in Bollywood and is also heading towards his acting career. They say he soon will be seen in Bhansali’s sister’s debut movie. He was once an over weight singer and weighted more then 300 to 350 pounds. He was time and again was made fun for his obesity. People thought he is a lost case and can never see him loose weight. But Adnan while everyone were busy making fun of him, had something else planning secretly. He started to loose weight. There surely must have been a thousand doubts in his mind if could loose successfully. What would be the result? Leave the result but would he be determined enough to complete his task? I try dieting and every time I say I am going to loose so much of weight, I falter at day “four” itself. And instead of loosing, I end up putting on more weight. This has become a big joke but I guess it happens sometimes and maybe due to various reasons such as:
Sometimes our will is not strong enough. Sometimes we give up too fast. Sometimes we are too impatient and want to see quick results and any lengthy procedures might make it sound boring and want us to give up. Sometimes physically it’s too strenuous and exasperating. Or sometimes lack of inspiration or motivation. There are plenty of excuses but Adnan had none such excuses. He worked day in and day out and worked real hard. I don’t know who Adnan’s inspiration is but I salute that person. And I give an even bigger salute to sweet Adnan. He is a man who will be looked upon with not only great respect but will also be appreciated for possessing real talent and for being a perfect gentleman.
He proves there is nothing that is impossible in this world. He made a difference to himself and to many that has lost hope on ever loosing the weight. Now many can look up to him and say “yes he did it and so can we!” If we want something badly in life, we can get it, we just have to work towards it but also make sure what we want badly is also legitimate. We all have the potential, we just have to realize that within and work hard till it’s not achieved.
So Friends, go ahead and dream! Go ahead and plan your goals. They are all within your achievable distance. Don’t feel disheartened. Just work hard and God will be there with you - Blessing!
