Raja Hasan Singing along with Aasma Rafi on SaReGaMaPa 2009
Many of Raja Hasan’s fans were keenly waiting to get a glimpse of Raja but actually wanting to hear him sing once again to refresh the good old memories; December 12th 2008 fulfilled this wish of many but in a weird way.
Raja Hasan was paired up with Aasma Rafi who hales from Oman, to sing to compete for the top final six. They both joined together to sing a song from movie “God Tussi Great Ho” and a song “Tujhe Aqsa Beach Ghumayu”. We will talk about this performance a little later but first let me give you a brief intro of how it all happened.
After Aditiya Narayan announced Raja Hasan’s name, he walked on the stage with the super confident smile all dressed up for the show and yes with the same curly locks waving. He did a salaam to the judges with a smile and stood on the stage as Aditya talked about his journey and his accomplishments. Zee TV showed how a successful life Raja Hasan is living and that he has become a sought singer after all. On this Raja spoke that while he was a participant in SRGMP 2007, his debts had climbed high and as high as 2 to 3 lakhs that’s is approximately 300,000 rupees. Now his fees for each of his show is about 3-4 lakhs which is about 300 to 400 thousand rupees. And then he talked about why he chooses Aasma to sing in today’s performance and the reason he gave was because she hails from the desert and he too hails from desert and that because she is beautiful. This statement came as a surprise to Aasma herself and came as a shock to me. Anyway let’s go forward.
Before I write the review of last nights performance, let me tell you that RajaHasan.Com never believed in praising blindly. We support and love Raja blindly but we never have and never will go on praising spree if it’s a bad performance. We are here to talk our mind and heart and hope Raja will read what his fans feel and will correct himself from doing another mistake in future. Mistakes at this point of life where a career is getting a spotlight can be a bad one. One has to be careful in choosing, singing, habits and social networking. Any of the above should not be taken for a ride. And so with this intention, I bring you the review – whether you like it or not that’s another thing but it is going to be an honest review for sure!
Last nights performance of “Tujhe Aqsa Beach Ghumadu” probably was one of the worst performances of not just last night’s episode but of entire SRGMP. There was absolutely no throw in the song. It looked like it was sung with the “What the heck” attitude. Many fans discussed earlier this week that they don’t like the song Aqsa beach but I strongly and firmly believe that the singer has the potential to bring live to a dead song if he wants to. Even though the song is not that peppy, a singer can do wonders by bringing many variations, performing it right and singing in the right notes. But unfortunately none of this was seen last night. They both not just Aasma but even Raja did not even sing like the original which sounds a 1000 percent better. Now one may argue that it was all because of Aasma. But, I would say if it was due to Aasma then Raja’s part should have been flawless – don’t you think so? The performance last night was a total let down. They got the worst marks averaging from two “Hits” and one “Superhit”. None of the judges showed any excitement in any way.
But who was outstanding in last nights performances was Sumedha and Shomen as they clearly took the cake away without a single doubt. Now that is what I call a preparation well done. I was mesmerized in their singing and the way they got involved with the entire song taking the audiences and as well as the judges under their spell was amazing. I was really hoping to see a performance like that with Raja Hasan. But sadly it did not happen.
Another thing that I think why Zee paired up Raja Hasan with Aasma maybe because they want Raja Hasan fans to vote for Aasma and save for few more rounds. They think Raja Hasan’s popularity will swing in Aasma’s favor and will do good to her by saving from future eliminations. But what they don’t know is Raja Hasan fans are not blind. They supported Raja during 2007 because he deserved it. This time they will not support Aasma just because Raja Hasan is with her. No way!! Aasma needs to go in next round so that the other deserving candidates get a fair chance. If not, I don’t know about others but I surely will be highly disappointed.

well to be plain honest, the song as such really does not have much scope. The problem is that given asma madam’s limited range, not the slightest capability of handling gamakas and murkis and flat singing, I guess there is not much scope for the choice of song in any case, so cant even blame them for the song choice. If you have noticed she has only sung songs with very very limited scope so far.
The song was bad, the partner was pathetic and Raja was well not his blazing best I guess.
Having said that it was still nice to see Raja and his lovely locks what says guys?
But you are right. He really must be very very careful at this stage in his career. Now who made the choice of the partner and who made the choice of the song, your guess is as good as mine. Dont think Raja had much choice though.
And yes I very very strongly second the wish that asma gets voted out next time so that good singers or at least the best we have in this lousy season of saregamapa stay on and no one else is slaughtered due to this besuri girl. Being OK to look at and cracking the same stupid old jokes should not be enough to setick around so long in a singing competition of any worth. Let’s hope sense prevails and that justice prevails.

wen i saw the promo of the last episode wen i heard Raja singing with asma, i asked my Bro “is it realy Raja who is singing ??” b’coz i did nt like wat i heard .

i believe if raja wanted he could have put his heart and soul in this same number where everyone felt the song doesnt have much scope and brought life to it. he has the capabilities and could have done that but to me it looked like he took this performance lightly. he shouldnt have done that.
anytime a singer comes back on the same stage where he started, he has to make sure he is the best among the present and past where people say “look.. this is why we will never see another raja hasan as he is one in a million”. i do agree that a real singer can do wonders to a bad song and make it a brilliant song. and that easily could have done last night but sad that it didnt happen. and please stop blaming asma… she is bad no doubt but raja should have been better in his part at least.. at one point the abrupt singing of both of them “aye hai hai hai hai” looked so very not prepared as both started to sing as only one was suppose to.. didnt they do rehearsals?? its such a sad state of affairs in india that people vote on emotions and the real talent is shown a door. bad jokes tu tu mai mai and stuff must have got asma till top six but i think its time she goes. i am not against her and actually i salute her for singing and speaking a foreign language but its not that great that the other talent gets sidelined.
both of them were very bad last night. as a die hard fan i only wish that next time when raja appears on tv he give a great performance and make fans proud who support him day in and day out otherwise i hope he doesnt come on tv.

Totally agree with this article …. I think this is Raja’s WORST performance to date …. it felt like he sang the song because he had to sing it ….. as for asma … i never really liked her singing and i dont know why she is still here ….
The stand out performances from yesterday was By far from Bappi Da’s Gharana… Both mauli and sumedha were splendid in their performances …..
Lets hope this effort will not affect Raja and his career in a negative way …..
asma se to khair mujhe pehle se hi koi ummeed nahi thi lekin raja ne bhi apni performance ko bahut casually liya…..chaliye wo sab bhi bear kar liya ….yahi soch ke khush ho gaye ki at least hamne raja ko itne din baad tv par dekha to sahi……lekin sab se zyada takleef mujhe tab hui jab judges ne bahut thandapan dikhaya aur kum score diye….baaki sab singers poori taiyyari ke saath aaye the aur kaphi achha perform bhi kiya.
agar raja ka ye attitude hai ki main abb set ho gaya hoon aur thodi plus minus performance se koi farq nahi parhta to ye galat hai . raja ko ye samajh lena chahiye ki uske fans kitni betaabi se uska intzaar karte hai aur hamesha judges se uske liye sabse achhe comments sunna chahte hain. please raja is baare main aage se cautios rahen to achha hai.

I personally was veryy disappointed with last nights singingg… Asma is not that good of a singer.. but she is improvingg… but common.. a song like this from Raja.. no way… as Rahul said.. this was one of his worst performances till date…But OMG I loveddddd Sumedha’s and Soumen’s perfromance… it was the besttt of the nighttt…
i actually got up midway in their performance….i was soo embarrassed….at the end, its ok…we all have good days and bad days…..there wasnt much scope in the song like padma said, but the umph just wasnt there…asma is horrrible…im sorry, shes cute, tries very hard, a better singer than I can ever be, but shes not fit to be on a stage like srgmp….its soo unfair to others….and the choice of song was suited for asma, yet she couldnt do any justice to it….arG As for Raja, I just hope this was just a bad day and not the result of any attitude…
btw he looked Gorgeous….hehe omg and wen they showed his clip and his teri diwani came on….it was like AMAZING…..im soo happy hes well settled, he just needs to continue working hard, this is not the destination, as we fans see it.
I agree with everything in this article. And wow, oh wow, i felt soo badd watching that. it was soo nice to see raja again but, i wished it was like a come back with a boom. I was extremely disappointed. it didnt shock me like the other performances. I think that Mouli, and Sumheda have been working hard, on their singing it really showed. I think that Sumheda did an AMAZING job, it was good to see her again as well. After that terrible thing that happened to her on ESBE im surprised she came to Zee tv. Bc what they did to her was def. unfair

May be too much of shows has taken a toll on Raja`s voice.Moreover it seems that Raja is not the same Raja of Saregamapa 2007. His body language has changed a lot. I also did not like what he said in the AV that the rate of his show is now 4 lakhs. We support Raja to become a great singer and not a stage performer.

This is Raja’s worst ever on TV - only comparable to the “Mere Bhains ko danda kyon maara” on EKSE.
And both these - are pretty delibrately sub-par performances. To put it a lot more clearly - Raja has got “convinced ” by Zee to put an awful singing performance. What he got in return is something I wouldn’t want to speculate.
Both “Aksa Beach” and “Mere Bhains…” were clearly “FIXED” performances to achieve their goals.
A friend of mine has insisted for long that “Pardesi” from SRGMP 07 was in the same “fixed” category - and now I am beginning to believe in that.
I can safely now assume that Asma is eliminated next - and the grand excuse is the terrible singing Raja and Asma put in this week.

Since it is manish saying this I feel like believing it but I still have my own reservations abt believing it. Maybe Raja has just got too sure of himself?? since things are going hunky dory on the money front but if that is indeed the case I feel that he is being too short-sighted because he should aspire to be a good human being and a GREAT singer and not just to make money singing in shows. This is what I feel strongly about and for a starter he should communicate with us as we have stood by him in thick and thin and he should show us his acknowledgment of the fact. He does owe a lot to this site especially let’s and let him not forget that.
and if he is smart he should realize that we are his true well wishers because we try to put him on the right track if we even have a niggling suspicion that he is straying from it.

I agree with all of you in all your different comments. But the best part was Himesh was no where when Raja came, and Asma said “mere guru kalti ho gaya”
I feel there was something in this part that is why Aditya asked her about her guru.
Any way i feel RAJA took it very lightly which he shoul’nt had, because other who came for this show were very serious in their singing. God bless RAJA and love to you all his admirers.
Mmao just adore the way you express yourself. Loved the pair chouhna business. I totally totally agree. That should be the least of our problems, being politically correct. I have also never chuhoed anyone’s pair under duress or force. I have in fact never done it so far. In the South we dont as a matter of fact coming to think of it.
Respect has nothing to do with that but acting arrogant even if a wee bit is another business altogether especially when one has just started out because it can only lead you on to the wrong paths and make you short-sighted and that is precisely what we want Raja to avoid doing. Remember the Raja we are talking about is the one that sang saiyaan I still am reduced to tears when I hear it I still listen to it almost everyday, remember the Raja of Uppar Khuda, Piya Haji Ali, Vande Matram I could go on, he sang each song better than the original, I have a good inkling why Raja chose Asma, but it didn’t work, Zee my eye, no one can make anyone do anything unless they want to, what is at stake now ? he is not in the competition. May Allah Guide Raja because he certainly needs it

To be honest … i think manish is partly right here …. Zee is known to do things of this sort and looking at the contestants that remain and their talent, Asma is by far the worst.
It seems that zee is finalaly tryign to do something right …. they know that asma will continue to recieve public votes in lager amounts than some of there others. By forcing her to place a bad performance they can now safely eliminate her and make it seem as though she did not recieve many votes.
As far as Raja’s singing goes … it was prolly fixed by zee as well … If you listen to raja singing this song again, you will notice that there are a few parts where he sings well and it seems as though he has to pull back and keep the performance bad.
knowing the history of Zee, it is hard to believe that zee did not fix this. We all know that Raja is not that bad of a singer …. if he wishes he can do wonders with ANY song that is thrown at him …..

chalo thik hai.. lets give him that benifit of doubt and think that bad performance was due to zee fixing and hope tht next time we see him, he wont be part of any fixing and be his best.
but i think if it was all fixing then i seriously hope that he stop being part of such fixings because its going to reflect on him and not on anyone else but i surely think raja is really lucky to such fans who would blame zee for the mistakes.

Whatever you guys say I will again say Raja has changed a lot as a person and his attitude is not the same as it was in Saregamapa 2007.
If it is indeed fixing by zee, then it is high time raja started developing a mind of his own. One has to start somewhere right?
i feel ….it cud be give and take policy of Zee..ZEE want to cash in on Raja ’s populartiy and Raja still need a platform as he still has to go a long way as far as his carreer is concernd……….

I agree with Manish totally on this…Saregamapa is not a singing competition as it used to be years back. Its a reality show and Zee needs TRPs. They know that Raja’s career is still fledgeling, and he needs Zee as much as Zee needs him, both for publicity as well as for money. Everyone knows that SRGP09 has fallen way short of the hype that was created and needs to do a LOT better than it is doing now. I have no doubt that everything they show follows a script. They show only what they believe will help the TRPs. Everyone on stage is a paid performer.
Right now Raja’s words sound more like a professional’s, than the singer we admire and adore. Honestly, I think that Raja could not care less whether he was paired with Asma or someone else. Song selection as well as rendition were deliberately pathetic. We all know what Raja is capable of, and Zee could have definitely made the performers sing better than they did. However, moments like these are enough to spur fans up.
Personally I was most hurt when the Raja-Abhijeet exchange was aired. That was probably the end of innocence. That too, unfortunately, was all well scripted to create hype for the show.
We, the fans, have very short memory. A year back, we all hated Zee and never wanted to see the Li’ll champs or the SRGP09. …. Come on Raja, give us a memorable performance. Its been a year now. All I listen to again and again are Oopar Khuda, Allah ke Bande, Piya Haaji Ali and Vande Mataram.
One good performance Raja….I promise we’ll forget all this, and be happy again

All those senior singers were there to support and push the juniors to go ahead but not there to prove them selves, they all are already proven singers.
As far as Raja’s singing concern, I think Anjali is correct, raja was not in his comfortable zone he had to sing it in a reduced range/pitch for Aasma’s sake,
and its an open secret that he was not the one to chose the song, actually no senior singer was alotted the songs according to their respective range/pitch but they had alotted acording to the junior’s , Aasma was paired with Raja for only entertainment sake otherwise there is no comparision between both of them,and the song was also an entertainingone but not the kind of song where a singer can prove him/her self by singing this particular song, it was given only for entertainment sake, and what would Raja alone do where that was a duet and his partner was not at all cooperative?

There is no doubt about it, that Raja was broughtup in a good cultural environment and he is far more better cultured than most of us.

All the other singers also got chance in to the movies and they are also doing the shows out side the country.Everybody else’s lives got changed after the show, all are making good money, but why the channel concentrated on raja only????????????
The answer is so simple, because chennel knows no body else but Raja sells , and its using him the most….

I have said pair chohna bussiness is for the birds, and I didn’t want to say this because I do not want to bring religion into the picture but according mine and Raja ’s religion we are only to bow before the Almighty and no one else, so pair chohna for him is wrong to begin with and if he does so because his elders there are hindus he is only answerable to the Almighty and himself and no one else, never have anyone of us commented on what he does in his personal life but if he does something in front of the world that will take away his opportunities and paint him as a foolish or proud person it is our duty to tell him that, I am sure you are aware that there are millions of Rajas in the world and no one gets this close to their dream of success most of them die with unfulfilled desires, so it is very childish to do things that will affect his career adversley and we as fans and I as a human being and a mother must bring his attention to his folly, he must behave in a manner that is above reproach he must for the sake of the Gift that God Gave him not deprive the world of his voice, my dear girl if I sat quietly and did not say any thing I would not be true to my principles, in the end no one can force any body to do anything as I have said before, take Amanat he walked away, look at Rafi they almost destroyed his career and he was the very best, As a superb singer whom God Almighty has given a great chance it is incumbent upon him to do riyaz to chose his career path correctly and not appear to be full of himself it should go without saying that we are all great fans of Raja lavanya sweetie I spent 1600 dollars on plane tickets to go see him then there was the accomodations the car rental food etc I did not go because he is cute I went because his singing moves me so please read what is written in the messages and don’t think we are ganging up on him if someone is jumping off of a bridge will you not stop him

latest performance main uske khade hone ke style main ek confidence thaa …..mike usne ek hi haath se pakda thaa ……so mike pakadne aur ani shirt ki sleeve ko upar karne ke andaaz se aur apni baaju bandh kar khade hone ke andaaz se kuchlog galatfehmi ka shikaar ho gaye…… lekin agar hum face ki taraf dhayaan dein to face par wahi bhola pan aur maasumiyat dikhi.
aaj ka raja ek successful aur secure raja tha isliye hamain ye difference mehsoos hua . kuch to song bhi isi tareh ka thaa… ki sehma sehma sa look match bhi nahi hota tha ….. lekin in sab baaton ke beech aisa kahin bhi nahi laga ki raja main attitude aa gaya hai.

Shashi you are so sweet we at least I had no problems with his stance yes he is now a matured admired and well known raja as he grows older and more successful he will be more confident , that was not the issue the money subject was and the riyaz was he needs to be his best if his dream was to be Raja the star then he has achieved it and nothing more to look forward to but if his dream was to be remembered for all times to come for his singing he is not even on the first rung of the ladder so he needs to be very vigilant and weigh everything and then take action and riyaz riyaz and riyaz ek behthereen riyaz shuda awaz ki taraqi koi nahi rok saktha lata and asha still do hours and hours of riyaz why?
I saw this episode of SRGMP only for Raja - I am glad I got to see Raja - his singing, sigh… oh well - I’m sure he’ll do better next time.

What I liked was Aadesh’s comments regarding promises made by the judges and the guests to the contestants - that they either keep their promises or not make false promises - really liked to see the faces of the other judges after his comments.
And Shashiji I saw Hattrick - didn’t have a clue regarding this movie so didn’t know what to expect - actually going by the name I thought it would be some junk movie - but you know what - it gave me a nice surprise - I liked it - I think you will too!
If you haven’t seen it, do see it! See I think of you all. hahahaha

Are sab ne Raja ke baare me uske baare me uske behaviour ke baare me kaha. As family members kuch logo ne Raja ke performance ko bura kaha aur kuch log uske behaviour ke upar ungli uthaayee aur kuch log ek perfomance achha nahi hua hai na bole. Ye sab sirf Raja keliye uske fans ka love aur affection hi dikhata hai. Jo is sight ke purane members hai jo Raja ko achhi tarah se jaante hai, uske singing ka poora poora dhyan rakhte hai unhone definitely Raja me change dekha uske singing me change dekha. Wo family ke bade hai aur unhe pata hai ki Raja ka performance is baar kaisa tha aur use kaisa gaana chahiye tha aur jihone theek hai ek hi performance achha nahi hua hai kaha they are happy with the performance. At the end sab Raja se pyar karte hai aur sab chahte hai ki Raja ek bada singer bane aur duniya ke saare log uske gaane ko appreciate kare aur duniya ki saari khushi use mile. Hai na.
Par aap logo ne ek cheez notice nahi ki hogi wo hai great Himesh ka reaction. bichara bahot uneasy feel kar raha tha. Sab log haske judgement diya par ye jalan ke maare sookh raha tha aur even chota sa smile bhi uske face pe nahi dikha.
