Is Himesh Now History?
Whatever the Bollywood reporters - who are on Himesh Reshammiya’s payroll tell you - Karzzzz was a supreme disaster box-office wise. Below is a snapshot of what BoxOfficeIndia.com has said - and these figures are based on the entertainment tax department - which makes it a lot more accurate report.
But as many people have told us - Himesh is a very sharp businessman. He , or his T-Series stooges have not lost any money from Karzzzz. In fact they made millions. The only people to lose out were Big Entertainment - backed by India’s third richest Indian - Anil Ambani, who probably thought investing in a remake of a film, which was his wife’s only decent hit - made business sense.
What Big Entertainment clearly forgot - was to check out Himesh’s reputation on the web. They thought the Aap Ka Surroor magic could be recreated. But then, when AkS was released, there was a curiosity factor. Plus, Himesh wasn’t all that unpopular. It was post AkS, that he made a mess of his image by his antics on Saregamapa. All his fence-sitting fans moved to the other side. Post AkS - Himesh was a complete disaster. None of his composed films worked - Nanhe Jaisalmer, Darling and Dasavtharam - all bombed. But the distributors didn’t notice - they went ahead and bought the film for Rs.30 odd crores. And Karzzz, predictably crashed like Monty’s two-seater airplane.
But all that, as Himesh would love to tell us - is history. What lies ahead for Himesh Reshammiya is the question.
However good Himesh is as a businessman, Bollywood treats you based on the last Friday’s release. And post Karzzz, the effects are already showing.
Satish Kaushik’s three film contract with T-Series has apparently been thrown out of the window.
T-Series has told Pooja Bhatt - to drastically slash the budget of Himesh starrer Kajra Re. What that really means is that - we have risked too much on this naak-wala-singer. Abandon things now. And instead of shooting for the film - Himesh is now on a vacation to Europe.
Himesh himself has cut his price package dramatically - he is now offering to compose music for free in the films he will act. The flimsy excuse offered is global recession.
Things really don’t end here. Studio 18, that is producing Himesh’s most ambitious venture Hhey gujju - has reportedly shelved the film - yet again calling it recession instead of the Karzzz super flop.
And the big setback came last weekend when Himesh’s close associate - Aap Ka Surroor producer and one of the key men behind his world concerts - Vijay Taneja, pleaded guilty to a $33 million mortgage fraud in Virginia - the biggest ever the state has seen. Which effectively rules out the AkS sequel which Himesh was dreaming about.
In all, these are rough times for Himesh. But, it isn’t the end of the road for him. All he needs to do - is for everybody’s sake - go back to composing - without his singing. And there lies his best chance of having a longer run.

himesh is only concerned abt his own carreer…he is promoting himself on evry occasion…where as Vishal -shekhar did wat they promised to do…they are helping Raja build his career..they even provided opportunity to AMANAT ALI & aneek dhar…hats off to them…

great article…. my son downloaded this movie (karzz)……. i have seen only half an hour movie in three or four sittings……. and now i don’t have any courage to see this movie.
i couldn’t understand that why he feel that he is a great actor……. he can’t express any emotion properly…… all the time i feel that he is restricting or controling his emotions…… whether it is crying,smiling laughing or love…..he does not know the abc of acting…….sirf eyes ke kuch ajeeb se expression dene se hi acting nahi ho jaati.
you are right that aks was successful because of curiousity factor. so he should go back to composing.
one thing more that all the time i feel… that i am watching himesh reshamia not a character …and i think that this is the biggest drawback of an actor.
Himesh himself is the biggest disaster in the industry, no wonder. Hope this disaster will soon be out of the industry so that we can tune on the radio again.

Honestly I camt stomach the guy!!!! Highly complexed guy, maybe one day I will be up to feeling bad for him because he is just so full of inferiority complex which comes out as such an unstomachable superiority complex!!!!
IN ‘SRGMP 07′ himesh tried evry trick in the book to promote ANEEK and ensured RAJA does not win…..but even himesh cannot sing like RAJA …
Raja’s voice is so powerful tht even himesh cannot match him.

idea bahut achha hai ahmed….lekin clip lagane ki duty tumhari hogi.
What I forgot to mention was the music sales of Karzzzz. Despite of ll the hype - and a billion HR fans, the sales were pathetic - remember it was HR’s first full album in almost 1.5 years.
It hasn’t even been able to reach albums like VS’ Tashan and Bachna Ae Haseenon, ARR’s Jaane Tu, or Pritam’s Race and Singh is King.
This is where T-series might have felt the biggest blow.

thanks shashiji. i knew that our analysis would be the same. anyway with HR it is so obvious in his body language plus every other mannerism of his!! But for support from his underworld connections and t series of course the t series mafia, he would be nowhere and not have had the clout that he had during the time when he belittled and beleagured our raja so badly!!!
the best thing to have happened is his losing the support of t series. the future will make this falling apart even more pucca i am a hundred percent sure!

have you noticed one thing …..that during srgmp 2007 days whenever a singer sang well in the context….. then vs, bappi or even id used to come on stage and encouraged the singer…..but he never wanted to come …. .he came when there was no alternative or just for formality…… it all shows that how mean and egoistic he is…
but for his own gharana he had done everything like begging,manipulations ,humiliation and much more..

To analyse Himesh isn’t an easy thing to do. But what he is actually has is a “vengeance mindset”.
He has a rags-to-riches story - but what’s new? Most people successful in life have that. But the problem is he probably cannot forget the humiliation he had to go through as a teen TV producer and following days.
And today, he spits venom on everybody that he sees as a remote competitor - the insecurity, Shashi and Padma have talked about.
The problem is - his career growth has very little to do with his talents - but rather with manipulation of the underworld money - backed by his own mentor in earlier days. He has wronged so many people - that now he feels that someday, somebody will do exactly the same to him. And that is what makes him so insecure.
It is precisely this insecurity that makes him go “Jai mata di” left right and center. Forget, the fact that he is religious - he is a bloody scared individiual for his past deeds - who believes that ten trips to a temple or dargah will cleanse his deeds.
