Raja Hasan’s favorite TV show "Balika Vadhu" makes it to top
Colors and Sphere Origins’ Balika Vadhu has achieved no ordinary feat. This daily recorded a TRP rating of 6.76 to emerge as the number show across all Hindi GECs in the last week. Doubling Colors’ joy is that with 236 GRPs, they are tied with Zee TV at the second spot.
In the latest rating for week 39 (21/09/08 to 27/09/08), Balika Vadhu reached a high of 6.76 on Friday (September 27) that enabled it to topple the incumbent Bidaai (Star Plus) who registered a rating of 6.57. It must be noted that unlike Balika Vadhu, Bidaai airs from Monday to Thursday. Nevertheless, occupying the top spot in less than three months since it launched is quite a remarkable achievement.
An elated Sunjoy Wadhwa, producer of the show says, “We expected the show to do well and receive critical acclaim but to become the number one show is less than three months is something which we had not dreamt of. Our concept is noble and such kind of story telling has never happened and so we were confident of reaping the rewards. Personally this a great moment of pride as it’s for the first time that a Sphere Origins show has been rated number one.”
It’s no secret that the juvenile couple Anandi (Avika Gor) and Jagdish (Avinash Mukherjee) has touched most hearts. The two kids were to be part of the show for only 80 episodes but their outstanding performance has resulted in an extended role for them.
After being in denial mode earlier, Sunjoy now reveals the truth. “The children were to be part of the show for only 80 episodes but their popularity means that they will get an extension. Currently we’ve shot only 40 episodes.”
The little star of the hour Avika ‘Anandi’ Gor says, “It feels great. Honestly speaking, when I was told the story, I expected something like this was going to happen. So, I’m not at all surprised with the result. I’d like to treat my friends provided my father allows me too.”

oh yes….it is my favorite serial…rather it will be more correct to say that…..’i never follow any serial on any tv channel…but i fell deeply in love with this ‘Balika Vadhu’….just like shashi, i feel as if Raja is with me while seeing this serial…many times i used to see the repeat programme,which is unlike me…my son has just comleted 12 & the hero of this show is of the same age….my son is pleading to get him a balika vadhu just like ‘Anandi’….
