Ek Se Badhkar Ek - The Grand Finale - Sunday Night
So the big night is here. Exactly 11 months after the Saregamapa 2007 fiasco, here is a night where Raja Hasan and Jaswirr Kaur will be crowned winners of Ek Se Badhkar Ek.
Yesterday’s events - the first part of the Ek Se Badhkar Ek grand finale was a bit disappointing - with the organising of things looking a bit clumsy. But the best part was - unlike the Saregamapa finals, there wasn’t much of lip synching.
By yesterday, Raja Hasan and Jaswir Kaur were trailing by around 12000 votes. And Zee TV went back to their ages old custom of dividing the votes on the basis of region. It would be interesting to see if there is anything called “international voting” apart from the regions. I am very curious to know if the online voting option was just for cosmetic purposes.
So, here we go with tonight’s events.
Things begin with Irfan and Ali - Laughter Champion imports from Star One. It was a brief session - that was a big relief - from Mandira Bedi. It was wonderful to see Irfan and Ali called Mamoo a “Senior citizen”
Next comes in Abhijeet Mamoo’s performance. A performance which he dedicates to a blind friends of his - along with the Udaan band.
Abhijeet begins with Jaane Jaan Dhoondta raha- both Raja and Sanchita join in. Raja is decked up for dinner in black.
Kushal comes in a Superman costume - performing on Pappu can’t dance saala - while Jassi does a brief dance on Satrangi re.
Now individual dance awards. Abhishek Awasthi gets the best dancer award. Strangely, no nominees announced for this award. Abhishek follows it with his own performance.
Next Ahmed drags Shoaib Akhtar onto the dance floor - Shoaib continues to pretend that he has two left feet. Esha goes on poke things - Pappu can’t dance saala, she taunts.
Now Esha walks in. Shoaib plays the Don. In a brief session - Shoaib and Esha put in a small jig. Shoaib is restrained, but not all that bad either.
Next up are the kids from the ESBE Children’s Special performing on “It’s the Time to Disco.” Esha, Ahmed Khan and Abhijeet join the kids in a brief “Bam Bam Bole” dance.
All contestants are called up on the stage. Mandira brings in the South Zone results. Jassi and Raja lead by around 10,588 votes. That makes it a lead of around 22,000 votes from South Zone.
The final results are now with Esha.
Judges’s opinions now. Ahmed is diplomatic, doesn’t take any names.
Esha finally announces the winners - Raja Hasan and Jaswir kaur. They win by 99980 votes. A trophy and a mega check to the winners. Celebrations all around. Jassi’s family seems to be enjoying the moment. Sanchita is in tears.
Finally, a short clip where Kushal along with Raja thank people for voting all four of them. Raja makes it a point to say - duniya mein kahin se bhi vote kiye hai.

raja seems to have really suffered the terrible blow of last nightmarish saregamapa finals as there was no one from his family on the sets this time.
He really loves ayesha that’s for sure and wanted to spare her the agony and hurt she went through too last time.

I felt the same way Padma…i was searching frantically atleast one person from his family…with whom he could have shared his happy moment…it’s ok dear…congratulations to dear Raja & Jassi…congrates all the fan…love u all…

with me it is in fact once bitten thousand times shy and on the phone ayesha did say that they had been very very tense because of unfavourable reports from zee guys hinting that raja might lose.
anyway the good side to the story is that they are now deliriously happy

and i was most happy to see my dearest darling one more wronged-by-zee person, my own aamir hafeez. Just simply adore the baby. And he adores raja too and imitates him all the time and sings so so so heart rendingly well in his once again different hatke voice. hope his voice hasnt changed over the past year.

The online votes were never counted. If one goes by UTV’s calculations, Kushal-Sanchita lead by 61k votes in the East. Given those stats, a vote difference of 80K votes from the West is acceptable - where both Raja and Jassi dominate. There was absolutely no mention of Internet voting.

definitely there are many people out there who worked hard for Raja and ppl. are there who voted like maniacs, especially I would love to thank all Bikaneris for their effort, I heard that they’d voted continuously till the deadline and most of them were spent their whole time in voting only, so my Salaam to Bikaner.
But I really didn’t understand where the all online votes have gone,They didnt even mentioned about.
The whole show was boring,except Raja, nothing was interesting not even the announcement of the winner,
