    @ Padma - yes Raja’s voice is extremely haunting…once you hear his voice in any song, that song is likely to stick to u like everlasting glue.

    Great great singing by Raja ….since i have discussed some technicalities ..let me add this part:

    1> Raja used ‘khas’ expression which was a trademark way of abhijeet copying kishore kumar

    2> A part of baritone vs tenor debate also extends to the ‘dard’ expression…when typical tenor sings dard it is like crying …but when baritone singer sings dard bhara song it is dard with dignity (like even if you don’t accept me ..i will survive kind of expression) COming to raja’s singing, he put in a lot of baritone in this song …so i don’t think abhijeet’s general comment was applicable

    I am still haunted by Raja’s rendition of the song which is something that the original abhijeet version never managed to.

    last two days se bahut hectic schedule hone ke vajeh se na to main ye site open kar paaye aur na hi programme dekh paayi. mujhe aisa laga mano main khud ko bhool gayi hoon .

    anyway,abhi abhi maine raja ka jab ye song suna to mere mind main first impression yahi aaya ki raja thode se zyada riyaz aur practice se original singer se bhi zyada accha expression de jaata hai .music diretor is cheez ko jaroor notice karen.

    raja ki ye performance bahut hi melodius aur toching thi. raja , bus isi tareh aage badhte raho.

    I think its slightly unfair to compare this performance with Abhijeet’s song ….it was Kumar Sanu’s version which Raja sang, which actually has a nasal twang and thodi rone waali awaaz :-)

    I did like it, but wont really say it was one of his best performances. Come on Raja…. we all know what you are capable of. Give us somethng which makes us forget even the Saregamapa performances. Its long due now

    Vineet - I think you have spotted it correctly - he was singing the Kumar Sanu version which was supposed be a lot more dard bhara and a lot less aggressive.
