Abhijeet and the case of Sour Grapes

Abhijeet-bhattacharya-bFormer playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s political views and his politically motivated ideas on Pakistani singers are rather well documented. So is his past track record on breaking laws - where he has booked on at least two cases of physical assault - in one case he tried again to wriggle out of the scenario by accusing the assaulted of being “pro-Pakistani”.

He says among a lot of other nonsense: “Filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt and Karan Johar are promoting Paksitani talents like Rahat Ali Khan, Adnan Sami and the Strings band. Those who do not get recognition in Pakistan are being promoted here at our cost. Very soon we will have a quota reserved for them. Even bhagwan will not forgive them. They should not invite the curse of Indian singers. Talent discovered through reality shows like ‘Fame Gurukul’ and ‘Indian Idol’ is also not being promoted. Music is art. To play politics at the cost of Indian talent is not fair.”

In 2003, he even petitioned the Government of India seeking a ban on Pakistani singers performing in India.

So it doesn’t come as a surprise when Abhijit has a go at Atif Aslam when Aneek sings his song in tonight’s Ek Se Badhkar Ek. If the promos are to be believed - he goes on to say - that nobody will sing such songs on this stage from now on.

Now, is a former playback singer, with no work in hand, going to decide on what or who we want to hear?

Apparently even during Raja’s performance of Jiya Dhadak Dhadak, Abhijeet  is supposed to have said - “If you have such talents out here, why does one need to import singers from Pakistan?” Rightly so, Zee edited that part out.

I don’t see much sense in talking about Abhijeet’s politically motivated right-wing views. When you open a manhole cover, all that you get is stink.

But the problem is with Zee allowing this needless tirade on its platform to garner TRPs. We have seen too many dramas - from tacky love stories to imaginary fights on reality shows. But this one is pretty serious stuff. Can Zee stoop to such low levels that it allows its platform to be used for airing political views - that too in the guise of a reality singing show?

We don’t know yet on what Abhijeet exactly said, but if this clip is aired today, it only helps in projecting Zee as a channel with an anti-Pakistan mentality.  Forget Abhijeet - he is a retard. But at least Zee should have the sense on what is to be aired and what is not to be aired. With so much on stake for Zee through Pakistanis - millions from Saregamapa’s Pakistani singers and a further several millions from Pakistani crickets in the ICL, this decision by Zee is sure to turn into a mishap.

For Zee to allow its reality show platform to be converted into a political stage is stooping to its lowest levels. To try and confine music to barriers of nationalities is something only retards can do.

As for Abhijeet, he has just two releases in the past 12 months, and none in 2008. Even Raja has more releases than him. That probably explains the sour Pakistani grapes.

  1. oh my god ,abhi jeet ke barre main yeh sab padh kar main hairan reh gayi. kis kadar narrow minded person hai woh. it is a sign of frustration. music ki koi hadd nahi hoti.aisa lagta hai ki bahut destructive attitude hai unka.

  2. NO wonder when Diwakar frm lil champs sung Aadat and then Abhijeet said the song is good but the singer is bad and he was reffering to Atif

  3. While its true that music has no boundaries, I tend to somewhat agree with Abhijeet when he says outside talent being promoted at the cost of our own wonderful talent bank…

Of course, I dont agree with other stupid comments he makes while “judging” on Ek se…

  4. I am totally DISGUSTED with Abhijeetda’s comments!!!
And he even petitioned the Government of India seeking a ban on Pakistani singers performing in India.
That’s too much….how can he do that??? He has no right to say anything like this!!!
This way…he is spoiling India’s name in front of the whole world!!! He thinks he will gain respect from Indians by doing all this…then he is utterly mistaken!!!
We expect that people all around the world should give us respect…so it is our duty to give them respect!!!
I am soooo Mad at him…I feel DISGUSTED!!! This is AWFUL!!!
I is so sad that people think this way :(

  5. Music is not Abhijeet’s jageer he can sit down and shut up

  6. Music has no boundaries. Singers from all around the world should be welcomed. No wonder Abhijeet is a failed singer. I have lots of respect and very high admiration of some of the Pakistani singers. Once Lata Ji said she starts her morning with Mehdi Hasan.

  7. i am really perturbed at abhijit’s comment…but i felt more disgusted about ‘zee’….how can they air this sort of things worldwide….they r able to edit so many things..can’t they edit this !!! I just hate it….ye programme me host aur abhijit ko chhodkar baki sab thic hey

  8. i just feel that it is not right of him to discriminate people…
but worst talking it on a show that is being telecast internationally
    and plus not being editted!

  9. Mujhe pehele se hi pata tha ki Abhijith ko Pakistani singers se nafrath hai, isiliye Raja ke liye maine koyi bhi aisa gaana select nahi kiya tha, Abhijith specially hates Adnaan sami, maine kayi baar adnaan ke baare me objectionable comments karte hue sunee thi, lagta hai ab Abhijith ko har ek singer se darr lagne laga hai, isiliye koyi talented singer ko dekhta tho darr ke maare uska dimaag kaam nahi karta,
Jab Raja ko uske popularity ke wajaise khulkar kuch keh nahi paaraha hai tho points dene me apna jealousy dikha raha hai.

Hey bhagwaan Raja ko aise logon se bachaana,
Ab tho milaye ho, magar ab kabhi bhi zindagi me Raja ko aise logon se milaana nahi, please.

  10. i have stopped watching that show as soon as i watched that episode. it is not the first time Abhijeet has given such remarks that too on zeetv. i don’t understand how zeetv can even allow this. it is really sad when one hears such comments.
i have not yet heard or read a single comment by an established singer in Pakistan that has criticized Indian singers on there voice.
it is important to learn that when reaching a certain stage in life we must all be a part of promoting better relationship between the two nations rather then criticizing them.
Abhijeet is a great singer and I appreciate him a lot but i still think that he is immature even at this stage in his life.
after all what is wrong in having singers from Pakistan to sing when the language is so similar.

  11. i dont think abhijeet deserves any of my time commenting on him.

  12. omg…allll i will is that i dislike him soooo muchhhhhhh
why the hellll will he talk about atif aslam like that….he callled him “besur”..and everythinggg…what right does he have to be sayinggg alll this s*** about a pakistani singerrrr….?????

  13. Pakistan has talent and thats y India is inviting them over
its gud to see friendship between two GR8 countries

  14. this is just utter nonsense from abhijeet!!!

    frustration at its peak!!

they say Idle mind is a devil’s workshop, this is what i think is happening with abhijeet!! no work and more time to talk utter nonsense!!!

  15. i so agree with him,.. if they cant respect indians we dont need to respect them either..what goes around comes around.

  16. Raffu - I am so not going to waste my time commenting on this person and his views - but I am commenting to let you know I agree with your comment. :)

  17. @kavi

    exactly !

Love, encouragement, the “no boundaries” stuff has to be mutual…

im sorry guys if I sound narrow minded…. i have strong army connections, my husband is one…the pain never goes away…

  18. i agree with lavanya’s remarks ke he feel jealous of raja that is why he always try to give negetive comments on raja’s singing. rest about aslam he is also gd single i likes his all songs. every single has their different voice texture so i like some of new singers of which raja harpreet aslam amit r my favourait

  19. Wallah Acha nahi laga indian ne apne khod bezeti ki ek pakistani ke samne yeh words use kar ke.
Agar woh Acha nohi gata toh Abhjeet nahi jalta

  20. I thought i would never watch EK se badhkar ek Again due to Abhijeet but today while i was switching channels and again saw Abhijeet taking out his vengence and frustration at Mussarat . What I dont understand is Zee TV is so helpless in kicking him out of the show (so he can go and rest in peace in his own stupid world ) .What i liked on it was Sanobar’s comment…way to go Sanobar.!!!!!!!!

  21. How can Abhijeet call someone Besura while the songs of that singer are rocking the charts, may be the frustration that he has lost all the work? The public of India Pakistan and most importantly the popular music directors are there who deem some of the Pakistani singers talented enough to make them sing in the movies and public is liking such songs. Does Abhijeet want to suggest that all music directors and public has gone mad but he is the only one in correct state of mind!! Remember, Pakistani singers are singing in front of living legent Asha Bhosle in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and good among them are getting praised by her too! So it should only be about talent not the nationality.

ZeeTv should have taken it seriously, why is it trying to bring bad name in this world of sheer competition!!

  22. I used to love Abhijeet’s songs. But when I started viewing Ek se Badhkar Ek I must say that I started hating him. His comments is always so rude. I think he needs to follow a course on how to relate to people! Who does he think he is? He is not the best. He became famous only by singing songs already sung by Kishore Kumar and other famous singers who already passed away. Who the hell does he think he is??? He criticized Bappida, who is a very famous singer and music director. Bappida has proved himself over the years with his lovely songs and music.

Abhijeet, you are such an arrogant man. You look like a retarded person!!!

I just hate you and your silly comments. You should treat your jealousy. You just can’t bear to see other singers become famous, so you just criticize their song. I think you need to see a therapist!!

  23. music, love art, beauty, has no boundried, i hate the way people politicize art…

  24. One should not bring race, religion and ethnicity in singing. Because singing has its own string of race, religion, culture which is called MELODY. One need to appreciate and accept the talent, cause talent can not be compressed…the more one try to stop it, the much greater force it will push things back to make its own way across.

Big Bollywood artists like Dilip Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Waheeda Rehman and Yash Chopra had one thing in common, they were all born in Pakistan (before partition) but they earned their fame and name in India.
Almost all the indian artists, musicians, singers, actors are well recognnized and equally liked by the fans across the border.

The word judge means “qualified” and Abhijit is not even educated to take the job. Zee should seriously consider some one who is mentally sound and capable of delivering the verdict fairly and honestly.

  25. Bad news guys the retarded guy is coming back to judge I really dont understand why zee does not fire him, Probably they want us to be spared from his singing.

  26. Music surely has no boundaries. I have some 200 Indian friends who attended my wedding in Pakistan, they came from every race of life and I love them all. I realized that we are not much different from each other. But some people doesn’t want to buy that. Even in Pakistan, we will find tons of Abhijeet-kind.
But saying all this crap on an international TV….oh that is stupid and silly. He should be fired right away……
I see BJP making the next government in India so Abhijeet-kind must be appreciated in india but I can gurantee that 90% of indians love pakis and atleast 80% of pakis love to see indian culture and will die to have indian friends….
Its all about our roots. politics should not ruin our love for indians…and abhijeet should be FIRED…

  27. omg hes flippin racist

  28. i m shocked….
that baldy abhijeet is racist n he is bloody mean to everybody..
i remember when he used to argue wiv the lengend bappi leheri on lil champs, he called him fat and he sed that he cant judge properly cz hes not a good singer,
i hate abhijeet, just cz he sang a vouple of SRKs songs he thinks he is the king of music, stupid retarted monkey,
    idiotic gimp…….

  29. ….plus hes so ugly, i feel sorry for people who have had their eyes accidently on him
    freak!!

  30. i hav so many pakistani friends but i m neva ever that horrible to them… i wonder y hes so horrible.. hes probably about 50 years older than me but still hes mad, hes one of those people hu wana create problems between indians and pakis, bloody freak, dont know wt he thinks of himself!!
