About Raja Hasan, Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder Singh
All the time during Saregamapa 2007 Raja was marked as a singer of Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder songs. The reasons for Raja singing songs of these singers was that both Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder have powerhouse voice and both sings high note songs and Raja can sing those songs easily.
It is not easy for any singer to sing high notes song of Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder. Even Farah said to the contestants on JJWS that before choosing Sukhwinder Singh song be careful as Sukhiwinder songs are very tough to sing. But Raja sang those songs perfectly and with ease.
Now what’s the difference between Raja, Sukhwinder and Kailash Kher as a singer? The main difference is the voice quality of these singers.
Sukhwinder and Kailash can sing particular type of songs which suits their voice only. In fact at the initial stages of his career Kailash Kher found it difficult to get chance to sing for Bollywood but later on with his albums liked by all he got some songs for Bollywood but still he does not get many songs to sing for bollywood. Sukhwinder is the No. 1 singer in Bollywood but still I feel his voice also does not suit all type of songs. It will be hard for him to sing a soft number but Raja`s voice is divine and he can sing any type of songs from the range of Naina Thag Lenge to Vande Mataram to Teri Deewani to Dard-e-disco.
But personally I feel Raja`s voice is best suited to songs where the lyrics have some meaning and he has to express every words of the song. Raja also sings Punjabi songs with ease and he has no diction problems with Punjabi songs. We have heard Raja` s song for the Bhojpuri movie Bhole Shankar and we can say Raja`s voice will best suit for sad songs.
As a new singer Raja has achieved a lot in a very short span of time. Already his songs for SEL and VS are out and his two albums are ready to be released and he has also recorded for Chandni Chowk to China and another song for VS the name of the movie is not yet confirmed. His song for De Taali will be hugely promoted. Even ZEE now has realised his potential and gave him nice air time on ZEE Cine awards to show his talent to the whole bollywood industry. Even ZEE edited out Aneek`s performances in the final telecast of the show and did not touch Raja`s performances.
However, Raja still have to do lot of riyaaz to clear up his voice so that he can sing with more perfection and lets hope that more and more Music Directors recognize his voice and gives him more songs.

Absolutely,, 100% i agree whatever you said about theese three people our Raja can easily adopt any kind of songs and he makes them fresh with his soulful singing.

I just read this article and cannot stop myself from commenting - I agree totally with this statement wriiten by you and this is what first pulled me to Raja’s voice (my first ever experience of Raja’s voice) - his soulful rendition of Zindagi Ek Pyaas and then I heard Allah Ke Bande and I was a goner - never to be the same again. I would love for Raja to sing these kind of songs more - in addition to all the other types of songs he sings. He’s amazing, totally.

Raja, please sing more of these types of songs - I can give you a list of sngs I would just love to hear you sing.
These are three different singers with three different niches. Two of them have already established their niches, while Raja still has along way to go before reaching levels of either Sukhwinder or Kailash Kher.
Commercially, Kailash Kher is India’s busiest singer - and probably the one who makes the most money. His strengths have never been playback singing. his strength is his “emotional appeal”. It’s a wonderfully rustic, and down-to-earth voice that identifies with rural India.
Those outside India will have no clue on how effective Kailash Kher’s voice is. There can’t be thirty minutes of TV viewing in India without hearing his voice in a commercial - and he sells everything - and I must add - very successfully - right from Pepsi in rural India to political partiesto insurance to IPL. His key strength is that he is the common man’s voice.
Sukhwinder, on the other hand has reinvented himself - all thanks to VS. From a serious singer with a punjabi touch, he has now moved to absured numbers like Dard-e-disco and Dil Dance maare. Truly versatile.
Raja on the other hand has the potential to combine the strengths of both. All three are high-energy singers and not the typical lip sync playback singers like Shaan or Sonu Nigam.
I hate the rat race or the numbers game - but I still feel Udit Narayan is #1, Sukhwinder #2 and there is a huge void after that.

I think only disadvantage Raja has against these singers is his voice quality. The central harmonic of Raja’s voice lacks the punch somewhat. Few years of practice could make the voice stronger. But Raja is immensely more powerful in his gayaki …
since he comes from ghazal singing background he has natural flair for how to beautify the singing with harkats and has a great practice to execute the most complex of singing patterns swiftly and beautifully….however for playback singing voice quality matters the most. But this is an ideal time for Raja to produce a few albums …which show the spectrum of his singing.
We love Raja and for this then come to these conclusions and comparisons, and perhaphs this is true too. But other two are here since ages comparing to Raja, personally i feel a couple of years and some 15-20 movies, then only we should start comparing. But we love Raja not only for his singer but for his humility and lovely heart.
Manish you have taken the words out of my mouth when it comes to udit narayan he is the best and as I have said ad nauseum Raja can sing anything but he needs to do riyaz and perfect his art and gift
