Ustadon ka Ustaad - A critical analysis
I put forward a critical analysis of the show.
First about the show:
It was a poor show. Things looked so clumsy. Presentation was too bad. Judging was also not up to the standard. In fact a reality show with 5-6 episodes with so many categories is not justified.
With regards to singing section I will like to say that a singer needs time to adjust to the orchestra. A singer cannot sing with a new orchestra without rehearsals. The orchestra needs to understand the singer and the timing of delivery should match. During the world tour we saw the orchestra playing with Raja`s signals by hand and by other actions. This is not possible to achieve in 1-2 days rehearsals. Although Raja won but I don’t feel that his performance was up to his standards and this was only because of the orchestra. See in this video Raja performed the same medley with more ease and perfection.
Now about what Raja achieved from the show:
First of all what Raja, Ayesha and their families planned to celebrate after the finals of Saregamapa was fulfilled here. Jassiya one our members told me that both Raja and Ayesha cried the whole night after Raja lost the Saregamapa title. It was nice to see him celebrate with Ayesha after winning the title and its natural to get emotional.
Secondly from the beginning of the show Raja was given full respect by Sony TV. They knew that Raja is a popular figure as well as a talented singer so they used him in the first promo of the show. All the judges and anchor Sajid Khan gave Raja full respect. All the drama was also played with Raja as the central figure. First his fake elimination and then a joke by Kapil Sharma involving Raja. Lastly Sony TV allowing Raja to show his love for his wife Ayesha and also calling Ayesha on stage and Sajid asking her to say two lines.
Lastly the biggest compliment for Raja`s singing came from the man himself Mr.Javed Akhtar: “Aapke sur khare hai aur aap kabhi sur mein nahi bahakte“. I think this is the biggest compliment a singer can expect from an expert and we as Raja fans always want Raja to be perfect in sur, taal.. voice ,behaviour and everything and Raja never lets us down.
We will see Raja accepting more big awards in times to come.

Really Raja was perfect in the finals of UKU particularly in the selection of songs and the way he headed towards completion of his performance. Really appreciable. But why with so much stress & difficulty. He was on the edge and thank God he won, otherwise it would have been a shattering experience for the fans of Raja or who love him unconditionally. Moreover Raja should be perfect in everything particularly his behaviour and attitude because he is a public figure now. Those who love him without any reason also want their confidence and self-esteem towards themselves to be high. I think Raja should be made aware about these things also because there are so many other high profile singers and they control their emotions very beautifully and are highly respectable. Gravity of personality is the first & foremost requirement to be successful which was definitely there in the personality of Raja before the finals of SAREGAMAPA. We wish him all success and may a divine, honest and transparent personality like Raja touch the height of everything.

Wow………… thank you very much for this video. I didn’t listen this earlier it is fantastic how easily he sings this song. Most of the singers are just singing, only few singers sing by heart and giving respect for the lyric, RAJA always sings giving respect to the meaning of the words and by heart that’s why he always remain as the best. And I feel that RAJA had a tough competition in UKU than SGPM because Toshi also sang very well in the final show and for me Toshi is better than Aneek so I think this victory is more valuable than SGMP.

JB, very apt analysis reg. UKU. I agree with your observations about the orchestra and yes, the compliment from Mr. JA is the best to receive as a singer .
Superb Medley of songs!!! After listening to other finalists sing, I am wondering if they understood the meaning of medley actually. Sumitra atleast was somewhat close to singing a medley but Amit paul was out of track. Only Raja understood the songs with same Raga. As you have mentioned very poor program.
The orchestra and efforts to communicate with them with signals reminds me of Toshi. He at times reminded me of Zubin Mehta and the NY or Israeli Philaharmonic Orchestra. (See, I am being polite - I didn’t say a bandmaster at a wedding or a traffic cop)

raja was brilliant in the finals…i think as compared to others only raja did justice to medley round ..i did nt enjoy other singers in the finals..
he was the clear choice for winner..
