Vishal Shekhar to join the Bachchans on the the Unforgettable World Tour
Twenty seven years ago Amitabh Bachchan went on a world tour - and possibly it remains the most-remembered Indian tour ever. I still have audio tapes of those - a memorable show - where he sent the whole of Port of Spain into a frenzy. And on that tour he was supported by the Kalyanji Anandji troupe and a host of singers and actors including Amjad Khan and Deven Verma.
In 2008, Amitabh Bachchan is set to repeat the magic yet again. And this time with him would be Abhishek, Aishwarya, Bipasha Basu, Ritiesh Deshmukh and possibly Akshay Kumar. But the biggest news - is that Vishal And Shekhar would be part of this unforgettable tour. They’ll be playing the same role Kalyanji Anandji played two decades ago.
Organised by Wizcraft International, the Unforgettable Tour kicks off at Toronto on July 18th. Then the tour moves to Europe for a series of shows, before coming back to the USA and Canada. The tour will coincide with the launch of the Abhishek Bachchan’s first album - a collection hip-hop numbers composed by Vishal and Shekhar.
Now, I know what you are thinking about. But, I have no idea if Raja Hasan will be part of this troupe. But I wouldn’t rule out the possibility, even if he is under Zee’s contract during the months of July and August. In the 80s, Kalyanji Anandji has taken along with them their “regulars” including singers like Manhar Udhas, Babla and Kanchan (Of Laila-o-Laila fame). And it is regular practice nowadays to include your singers in the tour. Himesh has taken Vineet along to major concerts. And Vishal-Shekhar have in the past taken singers like Raja himself and Anoushka for a private gig in Nigeria.
So, there’s a pretty decent chance that Raja could make it to the show. Of course, if he joins in, he wouldn’t dominate the show as in the Saregamapa World Tour. But he’ll surely get an exposure that is many times more than his previous tour.
Keep your fingers crossed.
Here’s a video of Amitabh performing the Jumma Chumma series of concerts in September 1990. The London show was converted in a three hour movie and released in theatres!

OMG im praying that Raja gets to come in this show….. And I hope this time around he gets much much more explosure and that ALL my lovely friends here at rajahasan.com get to meet him…..Im gonna pray for Raja and all of us
Lekin jo bhi hoga accha hoga!!
I hope Raja makes it to the show whether i like it or not amitabh draws the crowds and even i have the audio tapes of his first tour i started to dislike him after silsila no human being does that to his wife in any event i would see the show for the rest of the folks and if jaya was there that would make it that much more memorable i hope vishal and shehkar push for Raja, may be the orkut regulars who know how to navigate the system and know how to get to v s should put in a request
Raja will pull some crowd to the concert. V S know the Raja effect in last World tour. I hope Raja will join VS.
mmao I totally reflect your sentiments on Amitabh Bacchan. I hold the same view and have never really much cared for the man.
and I think it’s a brilliant idea about the orkut way of approaching vishal. GREAT. Let’s do it guys!!!
By the way I taught his daughter French for a short while as well as her mother-in-law Ritu nanda and her sis-in-law Natasha for a very long time.
i saw one picture of mr nanda when he married ritu i thought he was very handsome is he ? padma
Yes he is. Much more than AB in any case and he seemed to be a nice person even though he kept his distance but gracefully.
But mmao I am positive nobody male or female can beat you in beauty in the real deep sense of the term. I really mean it.
Lots of love,
Padma
Wow Padma u really are page 3 stuff huh ?????
Honored to be your friend
If it wasn’t for a troublesome nose, she would have been Page 1 regular.
hey kavitha, don’t take manish seriously.
he is just plain jealous of my good looks hehe
@RHB
hahahaha…
Actually, nothing succeeds like a troublesome nose !
Go for it Padma !
@padma dear
hahahahahaa…my ! Im laughing so much…
fancy manish being jealous of a woman’s good looks..hahahhaha
BTW padma, I know you are too very hot and cute…
i meant envious.
other than that I have indeed taught some famous and some not so famous people - well shweta nanda nee bachhan, natasha nanda, ritu nanda, upamanyu chatterjee the writer, sarnath banerjee the first graphic comic writer, some NSD guys, loads of illustrious IPS and IAS officers, NSD guys, a few TV actresses forget the names etc etc hehe. will add on as I remember more if only to make manish even more envious and among the famous people that i have met and interacted with are jacques chirac the former french president, narasimha rao, few french ministers, maharani gayatri devi of jaipur, a famous prince from i forget where who won an amazing amount of money and got back his palace a year or so back and his charming wife, yes have also taught manju kapur the writer who loves and adores me and her husband gun nidhi dalmia of the dalmia family, poonam of course of saregama fame and so on and so forth.
Arundhati Roy was a sort of room mate for a short while. malavika forget her surname page 3 stuff also was.
the only illustrious guy that i still havent met is our very own manish haha.
another that i would love to meet is aamir khan.
and of course the little sweetest amir hafeez of the lil champs fame and THE MOST DESIRED MEETING IS OF COURSE RESERVED FOR yes you guessed it right, RAJA, the one and only RAJA HASSAN of course!!!!!!!
am laughing away to glory while penning all this down.
oh kavitha our messages have crossed each other’s.
lovely both of us laughing in front of our respective computers, see we have even begun to laugh together.
can you see manish, kavitha finds me hot!!! at least some people have good taste on this site!!!
ha ha ha ha he he he he lol lol lol
@padma
I know ! Amazing both of us laughing away at the same time…that makes me an illustrious person too (??????:))
Wow, you really really should feature in whos who…!!
May I ask how is it that you have been in such exalted company ???
because I teach French and people seem to think that French is one major glamorous thing to learn. also many of those artists and IPS and IAS officers needed to go to France for study, work etc related projects and so needed to learn French.
As for shweta she learnt is when she was expecting her first child because she wanted the baby to hear French!!!
As for the ministers President Prime minister and Maharani gayatri devi, I am also an interpreter and translator, so have interpreted for them.
As simple as that my dear. So I am certainly not a page 3 nor illustrious person. And also dont wish or yearn to be. Happy with what I am and what little I have. Above all I have all of you and honest to God I really cherish that.
Wonderful !!
Who was your favorite student amongst all the rich and the famous ??
I am really asking too many questions !!!!!
hmmmm difficult question.
manju was excellent, so was her husband though their approach to learning was very different.
after that would come an IAS officer followed by an IPS officer.
then upamanyu no maybe before the IAS officer and the IPS officer.
the rest were not so good. Shweta was quite good, she is an intelligent and cultured girl with a lot of general awareness.
hey by the way remembered the surname of the page 3 roommate - malavika tiwari.
am sure i have taught many more biggies but cant remember for the life of me!!!
my favourite would also be in the same order.
in fact my IPS guy was the one who inspired ammir’s role in sarfarosh or some film like that where he plays the role of a cop in the rajasthan border. ACP Rathore or something like that. Was heading the narcotics team. So did my student in the excat same place.
Thank you padma you made my day i am very grateful for your comments, anyone try to get in touch with vishal? or vijay and put a bug in their ears?
Happy birthday dear Padma. So does life look in the 50s?
ha ha april fool to you manish dear and also to all the others who believed manish’s april fool prank!
but jokes apart, it’s actually manish’s turn to celebrate 50 years soon, on the 7th to be exact, so let’s get the preparations underway guys because this guy sure deserves a great half-centenary celebration!
will wait for your inputs.
thanks and love you all loads (not an april fool joke),
Padma
