Pesh Hai…Aap ki Farmaish

raja-sfoThere’s not much happening post Saregamapa and the world tour. So let me ramble around with my preferences in this post.

We have heard Raja Hasan sing a variety of songs - during the show and later in concerts worldwide. But then, each one of us would have a whole list of favourite songs that we would like to hear in Raja’s own voice.

I have a weird choice when it comes to songs, so excuse me if you don’t like any of these. Still better, you can go on to list your farmaishes in your comments.

Raja does really well those high-scale compositions. And most of these songs fall into Sukhwinder’s lap. So let me begin with a few Sukhwinder songs that we haven’t heard from Raja yet. How about Kaawa Kaawa from Monsoon Wedding? Agreed, that is Harpreet’s trademark song song - but I would really like to hear that in Raja’s voice. There’s also the Kisna Hai number from Subhash Ghai’s Kisna. Raja would do full justice to it. And there’s one another Sukhi special that I adore - lai ve na gaye from Chalte Chalte.

What else? Maybe a few other songs from singers who deserved a lot more than they got. How about Suresh Wadkar’s Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa le from Sadma? Or Yesudas’ Kahaan Se Aaye Badra from Chashme Baddoor? Or the Bhupinder-Wadkar duet Huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye from Masoom?

What about a touch of Rajasthan? I would love to hear Raja sing Yaara Sili Sili from Lekin. Without a doubt, Raja’s variations here would be mesmerizing.

There’s one another song I would like to hear in Raja’s voice. The song isn’t simply suited for Raja. But I would like to hear it simply because it is my all-time favorite - Hum ne dekhi he un ankhon ki mehkti khushboo from Khamoshi.

Finally, there’s one other song, which I would like to hear in Raja’s voice. It’s a wonderful-wonderful composition and unfortunately, we haven’t yet heard it in Raja’s voice yet. It’s India’s national anthem - Jana gana mana. And this is one song I wouldn’t hesitate to sing along with Raja

    raja should definantly sing kawa kawa, kisna, n layi vi na gaye….the songs would sound so much better in raja’s voice

    would be great seeing how raja would render a bhupen hazarika. wow!!!

    also i would love to hear raja essaying a few swanand kirkire numbers, such as bawra mann. any rough cut and amazing in its roughness and unrefined finish songs.

    Ah Swanand Kirkire! I don’t why we don’t hear from him too often. He does sing a lot of jingles. Bawra Mann from Hazaaron Khwaaishen Aisi was wonderful…

    I simply like Raja’s voice no matter what the song is. in Rang de Basanti song, at the end of the song, when Vishal sings- rang de basanti- and then Raja follows, the notice the molody in his voice, its wonderful.

    yes, like jyoti ,i’m too in love with Raja’s voice no matter whatever he sings…except one …pardeshi pardeshi…i would love to hear Bhupen hajarika’s ghana hum hum kare from raja…this is a wish of mine from the early days of saregama…sili sili & layi bhi na gaye r very good choice of mr.jugal….my personal favorite is ‘kahanse aye badra ..’may God fulfil my wish to listen Raja in a live consert….

    I think Raja will give a different dimension to this song with his soulful voice.
