Who was the star of the Saregamapa World Tour?
By Jugal Kishore Bajaj
Raja is back home. And that always is a wonderful feeling. It has been a tough and hectic one and a half month long Saregamapa tour. Now that all of these singers are back, it’s perhaps report card time. Let’s analyse who gained what from the tour.
There should be no doubt in anybody’s mind that the world tour belonged to Raja Hasan. He clearly dominated. He was the one in massive demand. Even organisers knew it - and gave him top billing.
Kicking off from Trinidad and Tobago and ending at Vancouver it was all the way Raja Hasan who stole each and every show. The star attraction all these concerts, he was simply outstanding in each of his performances - and his trademark Teri Deewani was much in demand. One also saw a couple of newer songs from him like Tadap Tadap ke Is dil ko and Jiya Dhadak Dhadak .
He was always given a royal welcome to the stage - called by the announcer as the King. And as soon as that happened one could always hear screams and chants of Raja Raja Raja. He never let down the audience and gave them their money’s worth. I feel that it was thanks to Raja that all the shows were successful. And if a person was not a fan of Raja before, Raja by his awesome performances made him or her his fan. He won hearts, he won fans and made friends.
Our website also reported about each and every show with the support of Raja`s fans at all places. We also uploaded the videos of almost all the performances of Raja during the world tour and this made the world know Raja more.
After Raja, Harpreet Deol was the surprise revelation. Harpreet performed well and entertained the audience with his dance and performances. Mauli too had a good stage presence and on occasions Raja sang Dum Dara Dum Dara with her. Mussarat`s singing was also appreciated by many people. Sumedha’s performances were soft and nice. Junaid was the darling of young girls and they screamed whenever Junaid was performing. Diwakar who was in for the first part of the tour also gave some terrific performances and earned standing ovations. It seems Aneek was the one who got the least response in the world tour.
In all, Raja’s world tour was an extremely successful one. And we reported each and every moment of the tour to let the world know that our Raja is truly an awesome singer and performer.
Do check out this 13 minute video from the Toronto show (Special thanks to Bhawna Singh for this video) where Raja leads the group performance and clearly dominates the performance.

Hi Jugal,
Nice to see your article. And glad that Raja is back home for a well deserved rest.
While the other part of the world is celebrating with joy of seeing Raja looks like I am the most unluckiest one as I am not able to see his videos also. As i had told you earlier looks like my local ISP have blocked dailymotion for good.
Though I did not take your videos for granted they are really precious to me now that I have started collecting the links hoping that I will be able to see them when I come to India next year.
I was worrying about it last week.. not anymore.. this is life ‘You Lose Some, You Win Some’ and life goes on:)

happy new year friends!!!!!
I was at the Toronto concert and I got to meet Raja backstage twice and the day before as well, in their hotel. Raja and Junaid are my favs so yeah I got to see them both and let me tell you, Junaid’s my top most fav. and I love that guy to pieces, but I was more touched by Raja because that guy fully dropped us outside the hotel in the cold without wearing a proper jacket. And the next day at the concert, he recognized me and gave me a huge hug. Junaid’s equally a sweetheart as well, but I was touched by Raja’s gesture of walking outside the hotel with us. Junaid and Raja both sang their unreleased new songs for us, beautiful voices! Raja’s new song is a def hit.
At the concert, I think Raja got the most hype, followed really closely by Junaid, then Musarrat. You’re right, nobody even cared for Aneek, it was kinda amusing.
I just had a question, what do you mean by Raja was top billed? These people got paid for doing these concerts? Awesome! Do you know who was 2nd billed, or what order was Junaid billed at?
Thanks!
Hasan, I am not surprised that you are from Toronto. Of late I have dealt with so many Raja fans from your city - and each one has been remarkable - in more senses than one. You have a wondeful query. Who else, but Toronto citizens would be so concerned about bills?
