“Raja’s song was originally composed for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan”
Pankaj Shukla, director of Bhole Shankar, speaks about the song Raja Hasan recently recorded. And how the song was composed with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in mind.(The below came through as a comment in a previous post and I thought it was it was too valuable to be tucked away as a comment - RHB)
Thank you so much for the appreciation of the work. In fact when the song (Raja Hasan’s Bhojpuri recording for Bhole Shankar) was concieved by me in visuals, I was worried as to who will be the right person to convert my imaginations into lyrics. Bipin Bahar has been writing the demanded and average stuff for Bhojpuri Films for a long, but his taste for literature made me select him to wirte this particular song. There were sittings, quarells, discussions and hot debates over the wordings of the songs and finally when it was ready, even Bipin Bahar could not believe that he has written such a gem. He is a wordsmith, and it is upto his directors how they use him.
The song was originally thought for to be in voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I contacted Mr Mukesh Bhatt to get his whereabouts but he told me that Rahat is a yayawar and it is hard to contact him. My next and last choice for the song was Raja. Raja has that rustic finish in his voice that was the first requirement of the song.
The songs that Raja has sung is for film Bhole Shankar starring Mithun Chkaraborty, Manoj Tiwari, Monalisa, Lovy Rohatgi, Rajesh Vivek, Gopal Singh, Shabnam Kapoor and introducing Raghvendra Mudgal, and I am sure it is going to be a milestone in Raja’s career. Not may singers get a song like this so early in thier career. The recording with Raja and Mauli was the first day of our work for the film. We have almost finished pre-production work and are soon going to start the film’s shooting. We hope to wrap up the shooting part by January end and make the film ready for the release around Holi or so, if everything goes as planned, because planning is one thing that you can never be sure of in Mumbai film industry.

Congratulations RAJA, I’m not well known about “ Bhojpuri songs” Thanks to Jagal Baj I got little knowledge from one of his article in the forum. Anyway important thing is RAJA’s voice love to hear any language, any song from his magical voice. Good luck RAJA and for all the team of this film.

Thank you all for the nice feedback. I am also planning to hold the music release of Bhole Shankar at some plance in Rajasthan with Raja Hasan. Can any one take the burden of organizing the event somewhere in Feb or March 2008.
