In defence of Vishal
I know, I started it.
I know that it was me who made public Vishal’s “they cheated” comment on the Saregamapa rigging issue. This was after an alert member of this site pointed it out to me. I have a been a regular at Vishal’s community myself and knew it was Vishal’s official Orkut profile. I got it verified from a few regulars themselves on the Vishal community that the comment was “authentic”. If I hadn’t come out with the story, someone else would have. And that’s why, after a bit of hesitation, I went ahead with the article.
But then, I am a bit disappointed at the reaction on Vishal’s retraction of comments.
People need to understand that a personal reaction, or an off-the-record conversation is something very different from talking to the media. If you know Vishal closely, he has never been a man who has is afraid to speak the truth. And the Orkut comment was nothing different - he probably spoke his mind to a fan - which was supposed to be a private conversation between the two.
Speaking to the media is an entirely different issue - you cannot simply blurt out anything. Every allegation in the media will need to be supported by some sort of evidence. And every statement to the press is closely scrutinised. That is why, you see two different Vishals here.
To be honest, nobody has backed Raja more than Vishal himself. He perhaps doesn’t have the “diplomatic tact” of Shekhar, but he does speak out when he has to. He was the man who stood beside Raja Hasan, at the worst of times. His one look of anger was enough to convince us that HR’s tirade against during Raja vs. Mussarat was nothing more than crap. He single-handedly stood up for Raja when Shekhar wasn’t on the show. He was the one who rushed to Raja’s defence, packing up the recording, when HR and ID went after Raja. He was the man behind the memorable Chhaiyya Chhaiyya performance. And he was the man who got Raja to sing for SEL.
Whether he himself admits it or not, Vishal is a Raja fan - just as you and I are.
And every fan does have his or her rights to speak out his mind, even if they are considered politically incorrect. The Saregamapa rigging issue was a moment that hurt every Raja fan - you, me and probably even Vishal. And his Orkut comment should be viewed with all this in mind.
And Vishal has done nothing wrong in denying those statements. As a mentor on the show, he does have to be responsible with media comments. He is responsible not just to Raja, Harpreet or Junaid - but to every contestant on the show. And that includes Aneek and Amanat.
Moreover, both Vishal and Shekhar’s comments point to an important issue - that Raja is doing well - and these controversies are doing Raja no good.
Whether you like Vishal’s U-turn or not, there is one thing for sure. There won’t be U-turn when it comes to his backing of Raja.

RHB, you are so right Vishal is a Raja fan himself. I just hope that after these controversies they keep backing Raja. We know Vishal’s position. In fact, I am worried that I hope we didn’t put Vishal in trouble and poor him had to say something he didn’t want to in media. God, it must be hard for him, but he did a good job in balancing it out. Vishal knows that the result was rigged just we all know but don’t have a concrete evidence except the fact that we see more Raja fans wait Raja devotees everywhere, so it wouldn’t have done Vishal and Raja good. I guess the only people who should continue against Zee is Raja fans coz Zee can’t do anything against us and People’s backing Raja is the EVIDENCE and PROOF of Raja’s victory. So I say we Raja fans should continue in backing Raja and expressing our anger about zee’s manipulation and let Vishal give Raja lots of songs. I just hope Vishal continues his support for Raja and hope he is not mad at us for making him say what he doesn’t believe in.

I totally agree with u after all he is a mentor n he has to support all contestants equally n ofcourse they can’t go against zee.This quality of VS make them different from HR n ID b’coz these two always think for themselves only.Moreover they r supporting RAJA wat else v want.

I was actually quite shocked and pissed to see that Vishal had so obviously taken by his statement….ive read all of ur statements and I agree that hes tryin to stay out of the situation BUT i really felt that he was the only one who could once and for all put and end to this crap and slap Zee in the face…
but again i know India is very cut throat and they prolly wanna come bak to SRGMP in 08 esp now since himesh and Ishmail have been fired…so Vishal is tryin to cover his ass….
I also agree that if he makes Raja number one then all this will become history but i was really hopin that him, shekar and Bappi da would also back up these statements and then put an end to this Zee garbage once and for all….

All these situations come and go, only thing is wish and hope Raja will be doing fine and succeeds in his projects, hoe many times I just wish a miracle happens and trush is revealed,
While its a fact aht Vs have to safeguard themselves against Zee becoz this is the media where they can get publicity to their business.. as MD..even yesterday in the evening news they have showed VS music recording..they are recording a rap with Amitabh, for Bhootnath..their studio looks good and Vs workng seriously..it was nice to see..and this was on Zee News so obviously even the truth is known it will not be declared …thats a fact..its ok..but Raja should not be affected with all this and he should do good thats all

We all have to give full credit to Vishal and Shekar for what Raja is today.
I keep wondering what would have happened if he was in any other gharana.
We have to let this go by and give them full support to bring out the best music in the industry.
Living as an celebrity is not easy.. they have to be very careful about they talk and what they do.
Let us not hurt them in any way.. Let this Zee issue be in the past.
Remember Shekar once said to Raja that you have to be winner in your life then only Vishal Shekar ka hasli jeet hogi.
Nobody in this world more than Vishal and Shekar will want Raja to succeed.
Let us be by them…
I think Vishal was the best mentor on the show .
Only he had the guts to stand up against the crap love triangle and HR’s onslaught on Raja.
you guys should know, I didn’t bactkrack on the ” they cheated” comment! I just clarified that it was said with reference to the vote-multiplication software, not about the channel! The channel absolutely did not rig the votes, and that’s the ONLY reason I’d back them up! But some fans/voters did, and I’m saddened by that! No worries, though, I assure you, raja’s first song will be a SMASH! From then on, it’s upto you guys! Cheers-V.

Raja does have a formidable fanbase, it’s incredible and mostly constituted by people who never ever were into this kind of stuff. He is lucky, or else there is some charisma about him, some magic.
At least that’s what I feel because that’s the only way I can explain my own personal devotion.
And thanks for backing him. You guys are a class apart from the other jing bang and we respect you for it.

It’s great to see Vishal (if that was Vishal indeed) to show visibly his interest in the forum, which means his strong backing of Raja. The one guy I had all the respect for, for conducting the entire series with the utmost dignity!
We don’t really have to worry. With such strong backing, surely Raja will go places!

Manish, with the ‘they’ and the ‘we’ in his orkut scrap it is very clear that ’some fans’ obviously refers to aneek fans, because ‘we’ is obviouly VRS (we won) and hopefully us because we can’t be ‘they’ (lol) since they cheated but it feels like we won.
Maybe he DID mean that but somehow I feel that in the context of all the brouhaha over zee manipulation of votes, the ‘they’ meant zee, HR principally and aneek fans as well secundo.
In fact I am convinced of it but he is, above being a real chilled out cool and totally uncomplexed guy, also a smart cookie at that!!! The ‘they’ was so clever because so easy to attribute the ‘they’ to safer options!!!!
Man I can’t get over this smart side of Vishal. This reveals that at the end of the day, he has probably become a public persona that he is rightfully let’s face it.
Anyway I still dig him and their music (VS) right from waisa bhi hota hai days.

Of course we are all waiting for Raja’s original songs. Yeh bhi koi kehne ki baat hai. Man, I spent a few thousand bucks voting for him so that I could listen to him every next week. A CD will seem like it’s for free …
And Vishal, if you guys have time please get a Raja album out. Like I said earlier on this forum, I am willing to put in 10 lakh into it as an investment. Will sell lakhs of copies I am sure.
