The Ghazal Night - The Raja Hasan Special
Most people feel that Raja Hasan does well with Sukhwinder and Kailash Kher songs. But we, Raja fans know that he is extremely versatile and can adapt to any composition.
But if there is one thing, we haven’t heared before - it is his ghazals. Raja’s critics, who feel that all he can sing is high notes, here is one side where the quantity is unknown.
But then, is the quantity really unknown? Is Raja comfortable with Ghazals? We’ll all know that when he performs Ghulam Ali’s “ye dil ye pagal dil mera kyon bujh gaya aawargi” on Friday. But, here’s a little bit of background check. Raja, who many have bracketed as a Sufi singer, is essentially a Ghazal singer. His father, Rafiq sagar saab, is a noted Ghazal and Bhajan singer, who shuttles between Mumbai and Bikaner for performances. Rafiq Sagar sang the ghazal “ab jo bichhade to milen ya na milen” for the movie Pyara Dushman (Composed by Bappi Lahiri) way back in 1980. Listen to Raja’s father’s soothing voice and you’ll know why his son mesmerises us.
Now, Raja has followed his father’s footsteps and is extremely comfortable with Ghazals. I have read one report saying that Raja Hasan did sing ghazals regularly at a club in Qatar. Of course we all know that what he did for a living - he used to sing Ghazals at a popular resort in the outskirts of Mumbai.
The ghazal round must be an extremely comfortable territory for Raja. I just hope that singing this week is to a live accompaniments rather than a track. A lot more variation is possible that way.

I am amazed on how you get all this information about our Raja Hasan :-). Kudos for the same !!!
Based on the latest inputs I first heard the ghazal from Ghulam Ali in his voice and was a bit perplexed as to how exactly will Raja render it on stage. I mean Ghazal singing is a different art in itself and we haven’t yet heard Raja sing a Ghazal. But when I heard the ghazal “ab jo bichhade to milen ya na milen” sang by his father, I was doubtless that Raja will do full justice to this.
They say, “Everything happens for good”. So maybe this Ghazal round was saved for the last so that Raja can come out a clear winner and his critics have to eat their own words.
Still, I think that the Ghazal chosen by Raja is less popular, so at times because of this reason he is not able to impress an even large audience.
Hoping for the best. Is it possible for you to upload the ghazal in Raja’s voice on www.ishare.rediff.com. UTube is banned at our workplace.

Start voting if u want to see him at No.1 again..and keep voting from different different ids..or just call him from landline it just Rs.2/per vote…I think we can spend some money for our hero..just think we will not buy 1 pair of cloths and from that money we will vote him..we can vote him 200-300 times from that money..agar use jitana he to kuchh to karna padega..if we want to see him again and again then we must vote him..and make him No.1..It will be a tight slap on HR’s face..

Like father like son…. how brilliantly Raja’s father has sung. His voice is so soothing. I take a bet Raja will shut up his critics in Gazal round. U rock raja!!!!
Yup, he did sing Ghazals for a living… that’s why I was thinking this should be his forte. But he really should sing so well that even HR will be dumbstruck (which will be a HUGE feat). I do hope he sings that well (=

Dear mimi tks for u’re informations. U know normally Sri Lankan’s like hindi music & films. Sharukh khan is the famous actor here than our actors likewise we love indian artists. My husband and all my members also suppotting Raja some of my friends also voting to him but i’m a chartered Accountant and my husband also. So most of our friends also same Finance field most of them are not interest in music when i ask thm to vote for Raja they laugh at me. there are 20-25 people known to me are voting for Raja. Raja fans,
I found an interesting way to not repeat email ids for internet voting. I am sure the company you work for has standard email address formats. I just sat down over the weekend with a company directory and start going through the list and voting. I am assuming Zee does not send a confirmation email as I havent received one to this point. It eliminates the need to think about ids as you can mechanically go through a list and vote….some of you may have tried this already.
I just heard Raja’s dad’s ghazal. Oh my God.. what a ghazal.. totally mesmerizing… like father like son..Raja’s voice is just like his dad.
wow cant wait to hear him on Friday! u know this was such a beautiful ghazal, raja should have sung his dad’s ghazal itself on saturday.. but i am sure he will surely rock in Ghulam Ali’s ghazal too. :o)

I just don’t understand why people in the saregamapa site are criticing Raja so much! I feel so bad !
They are of the opinion that he cant control his breath and evenb that he forgets lyrics! but tell me how can only two songs where he forgot the lyrics outweigh so many of his wonderful performances?? I am so sad …i could not stop cryi ng that why do people do this?
I really want Raja to perform excellently on fri and sat in front of Jagjit singhji…so that if he praises him once,all thses people will not say thses again!

The people on the saregamapashow site seem to all out Aneek/ Amanat fans or Mussarat fans who are still bitter that Mussarat was eliminated instead of Raja. If you had read the comments on the episode where Mussarat was eliminated, you would know that they were bordering on the verge of ridiculous. It still hurts to think about those comments. And some of the people there were under the impression at one point that we trash Aneek here and we do it because all of us Raja fans are uneducated.
I felt miserable reading those comments. So let’s hope Raja sings so well that he shuts them all up. In the meantime, all my fellow international Raja fans, let’s make sure Raja does not lose out in international votes next round!

neeti i agree with you that saregamapa website has full of craps but than i always stand up for raja no matter which website say what and who ? I have commented in SRGMP TOO backed up for raja i luv raja and will back him up even if i have to for the rest of my life. FOR NOW yes we need to give him vote.
srgmp i read that the finals is between raja and aneek so lets surpass aneek and make raja the soul survivor and the winner.
As i said even if i have to vote for raja the whole night i will now its finals and he is a genuine and deserved winner.

I had noticed that he sung Kal ho na ho. What a terrible choice! That is why he ended up in th Eklavya gharana. Had he sung a Sukhwinder song, VS would have straightaway picked him.

yes i agree with rajahasanbacker.. he should have sang another number then he wouldnt be in eklavya.. but then sometimes things happen for a reason… maybe there is something good behind all this … his graph has been up and down and up and down for some critics.. maybe that is a way God is testing him and then hopefully its all success all the way from now on.

he has sung songs of NFAK, Kailash Kher, Sukhwinder, Adnan Sami, Sonu Nigam, Kishore Kumar, and even female song
and not to forget Udit narayan
u know i was listening to his songs and i was thinking which one is my favourite and then i kept on listening again and again.. and it was tough to decide one song.. all were sooooooooooo awesome… i love all his songs.. he gives that personal touch to the songs .. its like putting life into dead … am sure if he sings continously on a banjar land, it will surely rain there :o)

I did some research and found out a little bit on voting details from various countries.
You can go to www.zeetelevision.com find the website for zeetv all over the world.
What I found out was—-
For USA, www.zeetvusa.com gives voting details The website clearly states that SMS voting starts on 28th Sept 2007 19.00 ET and ends on following Sunday (30th sept) 23.30 ET. OUTSIDE THESE TIMES, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. Cell phone area code time zone will be applied to check the validity of the votes.
No number mentioned to SMS in the website! Maybe it will be updated on 28th sept. I did find out that so far the SMS # was 78597 from USA. Wonder if that has changed??? If it has, pls. let me know the new #. Thx.
For UK, www.zeetv.co.uk does not have any voting details!!!
For Asia Pacific, www.zeetelevisionasia.com says to go to www.saregamapa.rediff.com for more information.

and also rediffmail site says sms code for raja is 57575… i have been sending sms on this number… 78597 does not work for me from new jersey for some reason.. everytime i send sms .. it says that it was dismissed… and another question… i have unlimited calls free in us.. so the landline number with area code 904… will the same applies or is this some special number which they will charge.. any idea? look forward to hearing from u

I went to http://www.zeetvusa.com/sare/vote.asp to get the info for USA voting thru SMS. The site does not list a #. The ads I’ve seen all mentioned 78597. I guess, we have to wait for the show on friday and see what # is listed. If I see that # in ad before then, I will post it here for the US Raja fans.
The site does not mention online voting, only talks about SMS voting. But, I think we can vote online. I have been doing it and hoping that it counts. I will continue to vote online and hope to make Raja no. 1.
