Folk Flavour from Raja Hasan on Saregamapa
Raja Hasan, this weekend brings a bit of his homeland to the Saregamapa stage. On saturday night, when Laloo is expected to adorn the throne, Raja will be humming out one of Rajasthan’s best known folk hits - Kesariya Balam Padharo Maro Desh. Now this folk song, considered to one of the purest examples of Rag Maand, has been performed a number of times by various artists including bigwigs like Mehdi Hasan, Lata mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, Sandeep Chowta to name a few. Even the movie Lekin had an adaptation of the song.
Other bollywood movies that have hand this song include Let’s enjoy (1994), 99.9 FM (Sung by Zila Khan) and the recent Dor (Sung by Karsan Sagathiya).
From the numerous selections, here is the video of the song from Dor.
Another version that was sung way back in Saregamapa 1998 by the season’s winner Mohd. Vakil.
On friday he will be singing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Ankhiyaan Nu Chain Na Aave” from his album Janiya Haniya. The song also featured as part of the Bandit Queen soundtrack. This seems to be perfectly Raja Hasan territory. Watch Nusrat’s performance here:

i am a bit worried because VS only him left and i really want raja to win. BUT ONETHING I DON’T UNDERSTAND. The voting is closing on friday howcome they already have the results. Are we waisting our time to vote PLEASE LET ME KNOW. cause i am giving numerous vote to him.
I find aneek getting more votes why he is alreadya winner and already working with asha bhosle.
Why can’t people see that and give another person a chance and for me its raja he is a full package of a good singer.

i am very dissapponted abt this news that he is 4th. I mean he rocked last week and every1 in the audience was chanting raja’s name. how is this possible? so unfair!!!

Heard of the dynamite songs you are going to perform for the upcoming show…..I aready know your performance will be mind blowing, awesome, fanstasic and breath takingly divine…..so your ranking has no significance…..1st, last. or whatever, I know and all your fans round the globe know you are the Taj Mahal of pure music and of India…..so I say “Hats Off” to Raja Hindustani from Bikaner……Best of luck, although you really don’t need it…….Raja when is your album coming out, I have reserved all your CD’s here in Canada so I’ll be the 1st one to get it…..I m also enquiring from India, please let us know, all your fans are eagerly waiting to know. you are the Golden Voice of the new generation and generations to come.

I guess ppl r thinking that raja is good and he is prolly be getting votes anyways and are voting for ppl like amanat n others who have been on the borderline many times. however, i think raja will be around the top next week.
think saregamapa is playing games to gain some more votes .

do u know why raja is on 4th position this time?
Sonam: I have a theory here. But it just my opinion. The voting results are manipulated. The only thing truthful about the results is that the one who gets least votes (or maybe least revenue) are eliminated. The rest is pure manipulation to get a TRP boost.
It has been predecided that one from each mentor will make to the final four. So the most likely final 4 would be Amanat, Aneek, Mauli and Raja. And then the “actual vote count” takes over. Remember if all contestants of a gharana are out of the show - so are the mentors. So any manipulation after the final four stage is very difficult - unless a mentor is bought out (Like Bappida getting a 10 crore contract for the next SRGMP lil champs season).
As for why Raja is the 4th position this week, the Saregamapa creative team has to satisfy the ego of HR - he has worked so hard on the love triangle - so they decided that the three should be given top positions.
When you have apes like ID and HR on the show, what else can you expect? BTW, I love HR and ID’s mutual admiration society. It reminds me of those monkeys - you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.
but it wasnt like this in challenge 2005 - as the gharana of jatin lalit got eliminated very fast. Was that a fair game?
anyways we cant do anything except trying hard to give lots of votes to our favourite contestant… and ya the example of monkeys is very good and funny
I am very horrified reading that he became no. 4. How is that possible? I do online voting, but I think Ztv values the sms. I am not in India otherwise I would do some compaigning for him. Aneek and Amanat have already won Saregama pa contests and don’t deserve it again. Raja’s totality is far better than Aneek and Amanat. So plz vote for him a lot.

I agree with what u say… but can we be sure that it will not happen at the final stage? It will be really hard to see if the deserving contestant (Raja) doesn’t win.
BTW i agree that ID and HR are as good as Monkeys :-))
